Something Special on Saturdays
Jun 2013
By Andria Lee Winters, James Bay Market Manager
Imagine the taste of fresh baked croissants and hot brewed coffee. Feel yourself biting into a just picked ripe tomato. Hear the sound of laughter with toe tapping fiddle music in the background. These are just some of the delights offered every Saturday at the James Bay Community Market. Yes, right here in our very own backyard.
The JBM is long standing tradition for us community folks, who enjoy the many sights and sounds of summer, all the while munching on yummy treats, stocking up for the week with local farm produce and hanging around listening to live music with others who love the simplicity of lazy summer days.
What makes the James Bay Market special? Community; people like you and me. Vendors who take pride in their work, sharing their many gifts and talents for growing, baking, sewing, knitting, crafting, creating and making magic. Shoppers like us who support local, care about organic, encourage fresh, and insist on quality. Yup, this is sounds like James Bay market folk.
Speaking of special, consider the fact that this year's market has grown to host 60 vendors, has a waitlist for musicians who want to join us, and has recently purchased new tables and chairs to support our ever growing community. And how about the weather? While it may be raining elsewhere in the city, we've been blessed to keep the wet stuff away.
So, as part of the community, this is your personal invite to join us, each and every Saturday from now until Thanksgiving for something special on Saturdays. Come meet your neighbors, shop local, support community and enjoy the memories that can be made at your local James Bay Community Market.
