Thrifty Foods Pharmacy James Bay - Staff Pharmacist
You may have been asked in recent years if you “would like to sit down with the pharmacist for a medication review?” You may have said, “No” and that’s okay, but hopefully, the following information will help you understand exactly what a Medication Review is.
For me, a medication review is the most comprehensive service we can offer at our pharmacy.
Medication reviews are a great opportunity to communicate with patients and help them make informed decisions in regards to their medications. Ultimately, by facilitating dialogue and increasing awareness, we hope to improve health outcomes.
It is important that you bring to the review a list of your concerns and a list of all your medications: prescription, non-prescription, vitamins, and herbals.
In our conversation, we will cover why, when, and how you should take all your medications. We will review the necessity of all non-prescription medications and supplements, as well as discuss the possibility of any interactions.
At the end of our discussion, we will provide you with a comprehensive list of all your medications.
Appointments can be booked at the pharmacy, during any weekday, for 15-30 minutes; longer, if required.
