I agree with Bonnie Hardy's letter regarding the construction of "towers like Orchard House and Robert's House" and the Duet in James Bay.

What would possess the city of Victoria to cause such destruction to a neighbourhood and cause the upset to existing residents? The answer is very simply, MONEY. The city of Victoria is in debt somewhere in the "neighbourhood" of $50 MILLION dollars, approximately $700 per Victoria household or $3300 per James Bay household. That, coupled with yearly operating expenses, means that the city needs to increase its tax base and the easiest way to do so without increasing taxes to what may be for some an unacceptable level, is to increase "households." We're damned if we do and more damned if we don't!
