On the way home from the park I decided to check out the Great Canadian Dollar Store below Pharmasave.  What a pleasant surprise.

I wanted to see what kind of product they carried, so headed to the right when I entered the store. It is the hardware area. BBQ tool accessories, painting supplies (no paint, but rollers, trays, tape), pliers, small saw. Down a row were electrical supplies. The back wall had kitchen utensils that included some smart looking silicone items. Other household products were displayed in addition to the usual dollar store staples of party favours, cards and craft items.

Although the items were not generally "gift items", some would do in a pinch. The bamboo salad serving utensils are really attractive, as were other items tucked away in the aisles.

Since the store is a cut above the average dollar store, so is the price, with items ranging from $1-$10.

Unfortunately, the store entrance is from the parking lot, which means using stairs or the long ramp.

Great Canadian Dollar Store, welcome to James Bay.
