Capital Regional District

The CRD Board has finally approved a Regional Transportation Plan. Developed with input from of all 13 municipalities, BC Transit and the Ministry of Transportation the RTP will connect  key convergence points in the region and provide users more accessibility to more transportation options.

The plan is expected to be implemented over the next 10 years.  Stay tuned!

The Hotel Grand Pacific, thanks to a $4750. CRD Solar rebate, has become the first hotel in the region to convert a portion of its hot water needs to solar power. The conversion is a natural as the sunshine season ‘mirrors’ the hotel busy season.

A number of Government of Canada Clean Energy Fund grants still remain available on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. Homes and businesses with appropriate exposure and space are eligible for a grant up to one third of the cost. For information contact the CRD.

Greater Victoria Harbour Authority

The next GVHA public board meeting  is November 20, 2014, 5:30 pm.  Plan on attending as many of their decisions have impact on daily life in James Bay.

The location of the November quarterly meeting is still to be announced.

Eligible James Bay voters will be able cast their votes November 15 at

The James Bay Community School and at the James Bay New Horizons Centre.

The ballot this election will include the following question:  “Are you in favour of reducing the number of municipalities in the Capital Regional District through amalgamation?” The results are ‘non-binding’.

Advance voting for the upcoming Victoria Municipal Election will take place from 8:00am to 8:00pm Wednesday November 5 and Monday November 10.

The Advance Poll will be at the City Hall.
