Quadra Park
Oct 2014

In 2017, Canada will be 150 years old. To celebrate, Gardens BC is initiating a proposal for Quadra Park to become a National Garden in time for the 2017 National Gardens Celebration. A part of the process is to find funding; therefore, a sketch has been created to be used as a place-holder, but not as the final blueprint for the change in the park. On the advice of Councilor Shelley Gudgeon, I contacted Julie MacDougall and Chris Coleman. Both Julie MacDougall, Assistant Director of Parks, and Councilor Chris Coleman stated clearly that protocol will be followed and community consultation is an integral part of the process. The idea is to allow the park to bloom into something that will invite everyone to enjoy the green space. So, look for the invitations for the public to comment on the initial plans; this will be the indication that the money has been granted! Next, participate in the process so that we can contribute to the feeling of community that well-planned gardens often nurture.
