I placed my hands in Mom's today

And tried to rub the years away

Her skin was soft though etched with time

Her hands seemed small when next to mine

No words were needed as we sat

No need to talk, no need to chat

With these hands, I said, you've molded me

The woman, the daughter that you see

There's mystery and magic in a mother's hands she said to me

I looked a little closer to see what I could see

I saw the lines of love and caring

The lines of 92 years worth sharing

You're a mother just like me she said,

There is magic in your hands

Do as I've done and you'll be blessed

Please share your love and do your best

These weathered hands of yours

Have done so many deeds

From random acts of kindness

You've met so many needs

You've held hearts of love and brokenness

Within these well worn palms

Your wisdom and your tenderness

Has helped us all along

Her fingers seemed to hold on tight

Not wanting to let go

It's alright Mom I'm here to stay

I'm next to you, not far away

The Angels are in heaven

Looking down on my dear Mom

They're smiling watching over her

They're pleased with what she's done

One day God will take these hands

And hold their wonder in his own

He'll rub away the years of toll

And gently call her home.
