The lower causeway level of the Steamship Terminal Building on the Inner Harbour is still one more empty space in the downtown core. The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (the property manager) and the Maritime Museum of BC (the prospective tenant) had hoped to cut a deal for the space by mid April at the latest. The province is also a silent but major player as they own the building and are also negotiating the lease on behalf of the Museum. However, the chair of the Museum board, Clay Evans, said no deal is in sight: “Unfortunately, the word from the province is that everything is on hold pending further review.” Evans said no further deadlines for negotiations have been mentioned.
