In June the Community Centre and our preschool program were asked to participate in a film production called Bond of Silence. Lila Films Inc. shot three scenes for an upcoming movie for television which will air on Show Time in November or December of 2010. The movie will loosely follow the tragic chain of events that unfolded about ten years ago in Squamish BC that changed a young family forever. It was an exciting day for staff, children and parents as we were all a bit star struck and mesmerized by our day of movie making.

Summer adventures begin in July. We offer exciting centre-based activities and adventurous out-trips and swimming all tied into fantastic weekly programs. Each week includes a new and exciting theme for your child to partake in, as well as knowledgeable and well trained staff members to supervise. Our summer programs will incorporate a fun, healthy atmosphere, while still providing our adventurers with an educational experience. Swing by the centre desk for more information on our weekly themes.

The James Bay Community School Centre anticipates new fall and winter programs for 2010-2011. New adult fitness programs include African dance, Groove Method, mediation courses, morning strength and stretch, lunch time Zumba classes and creative dance for adults 50 plus.

Many community members will be happy to hear about new drop-in sports programs such as floor hockey, basketball, indoor soccer and ping pong. Schedule your date night and bring your partner to our Thai Massage for Couples and Foot Reflexology for Partners.

We also have new programs for families, family drumming and ping pong and games for families on Friday evenings. Youth, children and preschool programs include new creative dance classes, soccer programs, d-jembe drumming and a kids' cooking workshop. We look forword to the up and coming school term; classes resume on September 7, 2010. For those parents who have not registered their children for school in September, the School office will be open from 8:00 am to 3:30pm on August 30th to September 3rd.
