Season of Change...Autumn
Sep 2016
We leave the hectic days of summer
A season of togetherness into
A season of detachment
A light breeze sends
Dandelion helicopter seeds spinning
Leaving a forest of stems
A preponderance of colour appears
On the hillside and trees
Let the colourful leaves descend
We see new vistas of the ocean
Glowing red berries on the Mountain Ash
Brings a seasonal raiding by robins
Too many guests strip the tree in a day.
Return of cooler days the trees begin
The process of storing sap in their deep roots
The Moss Lady in Beacon Hill Park
Needs rain to nourish her green blanket
The pond turtles retire to their mud home.
We welcome the return of halcyon days
With old teacups and a pot of tea.
