We recently said good-bye to Dee, our long time health clinic medical office assistant and our front desk receptionist. Dee has left us for training for a new career as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  We miss her and wish her well with her new career. In her place we welcome, Joi Saunders, who was raised in James Bay, has 3 children, and has a wide variety of experiences to bring to the James Bay Community Project. Joi provides a calm and welcoming presence at the front desk. Please come in and introduce yourself to her while you are checking out our many programs for all ages.

Our annual Community Christmas Gathering with carols, crafts and goodies will be held on December 20 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Family Centre.  We welcome everyone to come and join us for some Christmas cheer!

Many people ask us how they can help out, so we thought we'd like to give you some thoughts about how you could contribute to the wellbeing of individuals in your community and to assist the Project with programming.  In other words, here is our Christmas wish list:

  • Canned soup for the food cupboard;

  • New items  for Christmas baskets for families or seniors;

  • Drivers for medical appointments for frail seniors throughout the year;

  • Donations of gently used clothing for the Community Closet to raise money;

  • Kitchen dish cloths, tea towels- we are always running out;

  • Volunteer gardener to keep the front beds tamed and beautiful;

  • Art supplies such as pastels, acrylic paints, canvases and paint brushes;

  • A weekly pound of butter for baking and the soup programs;

  • Volunteers to help seniors with their errands or to go for a walk;

  • A live Christmas tree for our lobby and/or our Family Centre.

We thank everyone for their support throughout the year, our donors, our volunteers, our clients and the community. We really appreciate the gifts of your valuable time, donations of cash, goods and services. All the very best for the holiday season from all of us at the James Bay Community Project!
