If there is long-term planning for James Bay's future as an entity, I am not
aware of it. Officially we are a neighbourhood, no more, no less.

Of the myriad of attractions, there is no one picture that I could mail
to a relative or friend that would clearly illustrate, "This is James Bay."
Pity.

The James Bay Neighbourhood Association's soon-to-be-published 2011
Neighbourhood Plan, it is to be hoped, will address these as well as lesser
issues. I sure would like to rest easy with the notion that our community's
planning will not be left entirely to the whims of real estate developers,
regardless of their attractive proposals. They are in the selling business;
we are in the living business.

James Bay could be the model for residents' active participation in the
long-term planning process.
