James Bay New Horizons
By Kim Dixon
The time of year has come when we say goodbye to the snowbirds -- at least until next fall. Hopefully the snow is finished for the year and spring is right around the corner.
We find that during the winter season many of our programs are quite full. For example, we have more than 60 people coming out for exercise classes on Tuesday and Thursday, rain or shine, hail or snow. I am not sure if they are here for the exercises, the cookies and coffee, or the delicious lunch served by Beckley Farm Lodge served after exercises!
We are planning a grand open house for Saturday, April 9th, and we hope lots of James Bay residents will take this opportunity to drop by and see what programs and activities are planned for spring and summer.
We have started classes for social networking. Ever wonder what the grandkids are talking about when they say they want to be your friend on Facebook or that they would like to tweet you? Have you been skyped lately? Our class for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch were so popular we are going to offer it again this spring.
The handicraft group is gearing up with projects for the summer. Starting in May they once again will be having their sidewalk sales in front of our activity centre on Saturdays.
We have been coordinating with the City of Victoria and will be having some renovations done at the front entrance to make it brighter and more welcoming. We expect this work to be completed by the end of April.
We do hope that while you are out strolling around our beautiful community you will take the opportunity to drop in and see what we are up to.
Happy Easter to you all.
