The Blue Note Café has been happily serving our community since last May. Gerry and Michael, James Bay residents for 18 years, opened this counter service take-out/eat-in café so they could be more involved in their neighbourhood and with the people who live here.

Gerry has extensive cooking and baking experience dating back to 1980, working in fine restaurants, bakeries, and even in a mining camp just south of the North Pole. Michael has been serving in restaurants since 1984 and is currently also working at Café Brio, where he has been for over 13 years.

It is important to the two of them that everything at their café is prepared from scratch, and by Gerry. They use butter in their baking - no lard, margarine, fillers, or additives. Soups are made daily and are usually vegetarian. They currently have a gluten-free brownie and hope to soon expand the gluten-free choices. Simple, uncomplicated home-style cooking.

Gerry and Michael are thrilled to be at the Five Corners, in the heart of the community: "We are two amiable guys who love people!"
