The Victoria Genealogical Society
Jun 2011
By Diana Smardon
The Victoria Genealogical Society provides a hands-on approach with volunteers walking members through the steps and processes required to trace their genealogy. It was established in 1978 as a non-profit volunteer society and presently has 292 members. Why do people want to do this? Some reasons are to find out about their family tree and history and to locate relatives or friends. The Victoria Genealogical Society's Resource Centre is located at 947 Alston, Vic West and is staffed Mon-Fri 12 - 3 (except Thurs 10 - 4) and Sat 12 - 4. Parking is free. For information, call VGS Resource Centre at 250 360-2808 or . To find out about upcoming events and meetings, check out
