Books in Nooks

Books in nooks from A to Z

Will bring hours of pleasure

Don't you agree?

A good story, poetry, or philosophy,

On all subjects, a curiosity.

Books and nooks,

Crannies and shelves,

On side tables, sofas and beds,

for ourselves.

With books, one is alive,

With letters of filigree,

Such a comfort, a book sitting,

Just ready to read.

There's nothing like talking

to a true book lover,

who is addicted to the sumptuousness

of cover to cover.

Read a book in stores, as if in a trance,

skimming forwards, last paragraphs,

and back covers at a glance.

Smells and perfumes of the old

Smudged covers, turned corners, history told.

Help yourself to a mug

Sound of purring cat

He is the mascot of a second-hand flat.

Snuggled on the couch

With a book in his lap.

A book is a treasure,

A dear old friend,

Our hearts and minds are tethered,

Like old book ends.

So that's my stance,

books A to Z,

Books in nooks,

I am hooked with glee!

(What would I do

without the library)
