Letter - About That Wheat Board Bill
Feb 2012
(Times Colonist, December 12, 2011 Sections B, Page 4)
Stephen Harper wants to get rid of the Wheat Board. His government is pushing for it! But the Governer General of Canada (GG), the Queen's representative in our democracy, has been asked to delay signing the Bill (C-18) because the Federal Court ruled C-18 had broken the law.
Who will prevail? Harper or the GG? Few people are following this story although wheat is an essential part of the diet for many humans. Why does the Harper government want to get rid of the Wheat Board? No one knows.
The GG could delay this Bill, but will he? Does Stephen Harper think he can do what he wants" Do we have a constitution and a Charter if Rights and Freedoms?
Interesting moment of crisis.
