Mind bender!
Jun 2012
By Doreen Marion Gee
My submission to the Beacon this time is a far cry from my usual fare. But writing is a highly creative process and I am always seeking to break through new horizons. My scribbler career has evolved into magazine writing, photojournalism, funding proposals, blogging and social media. Recently, creating puzzles is my new obsession - my raison d'etre! I have developed a special puzzle just for James Bay-ites. Every brainy person who emails me the correct answers will see their names in the Beacon limelight in the next issue. Are you ready for Dr. Gee's mental challenge? Have fun, jump up and down and solve this puzzle:
The James Bay Mind Bender:
Game Rules: I will provide one or more definitions (separated by commas) depending on how many words are in the final solution. Find the answer for each definition. Then, add a letter to each answer to form a term (one word or more) that relates to James Bay. There may be more than one solution for each puzzle. I will accept any solution that is correct.
Here is an example: Definition provided: "downgrades."
The answer is "lowers"; add a letter; solution is "flowers." And the Mind Benders are:
- jellies, beside ?
- breakfast meat, sick, Noah's boat ?
- Superman is a _____?
- pale ?
- gulf, grain?
- bed-partner, half a quart ?
- horizontal stockings ?
- last name of Canadian lawyer involved in prosecuting war crimes, ocean ?
- all the time(poetic form), abbreviation for 'That is', stuff ?
- _____bag, Edgar Allen _____?
So - sit down on Dallas Road Beach, let the sunset fill your soul and enjoy a puzzle about the best place on earth J!
