In the May edition of the James Bay Beacon Jim Gerwing wrote a thought-provoking column, "Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearing, a path to understanding the past."
Recently I received a letter from a friend in Calgary, a passage of the letter which is also heart-rendering, as the story line is so similar to the one Mr Gerwing wrote. Children on different continents suffer dreadful abuse at the hands of monsters. How can this happen? "Suffer the little children to come unto me..." so it is written in the Holy Bible. The most vulnerable have always been the least protected. Adults past and present should be ashamed that these horrendous practices still continue.
All the seminars, all the committees...ALL THE TALK...has not provided a sanctuary for the children. Every day it seems that one picks up a paper or sees on the television yet another atrocity has occurred. Where are your children?
