Shakespeare's Dog

Will Shakespeare bought his good wife Anne

            A dog - a mini Doberman

This dog will be your friend and stay

            while I go off and write me a play.

I haven't really got a plan yet -

            its about a Dane - I've called him Hamlet

He's mad - infact he's off the shelf

            and keeps on talking to himself.

Anne said, "Fie and likewise shame

            We have to give this dog a name

I rather like Toby or Seamus."

            (guess which one made our Will, famous)

She said, the question seems to be

            is it Toby or not Toby?

Will gasped with incredulity.

            "'Tis a start for my Soliloquy."

I'm sure you all have read it

but Anne never got the credit.
