The daffodils are beautiful in Beacon Park this year

Are we too old to walk with hands entwined

Among their golden splendour?

For what more can one want than to walk with the beloved

To behold the wonders God has created?

The rose garden is beautiful in Beacon Park this year -

The memories roused by their sweet perfume create

A longing in our hearts to preserve this feeling

Of well-being for many years to come.

The trees have changed their garb in Beacon Park this year -

They've donned their special dress of red and gold

To warm our hearts in bitter days to come

To tell us nothing lasts and love can be

The fleetest thing of all.

Will I remember being happy when all around I see

The spring and summer past, and love

Dying like the leaves upon the ground?

And I wonder where God has gone?

The snow has come to Beacon Park this year -

It hides the beauty in a beauty all its own.

I can't recall the ugly things all covered up in white

But memory is stirring, and when spring returns

I'll feel your presence here beside me

And I will know that God did not forsake me.

For solitude is often hard to bear

When no hand twines in mine.

The memory of last year's spring will fill my heart

And I will go once more

Because the daffodils will be beautiful

In Beacon Park again.
