Fog in James Bay

Dec 2012

A nebulous morning

cold air and hot air colliding,

rolling, tumbling, past

the windows, coming from the sea

obscuring our vision

our hearing becomes acute.

Familiar visual events

become auditory.  A dog barks, no doubt

leading the old half- bent man

wrapped in layers of sweaters,

on their first walk of the day.

A siren cuts through the heavy air

heading to some emergency.

The sound of a cart pulled by a bike

causes tinkling sounds from the

gathering of bottles

being collected by a Binner.

Ocean freighters moving in

Juan de Fuca Strait

send out tuba-like blasts

across the water

warning others to  stay out of

their traveling lane.

Ominous sounds of sea planes

drone overhead leaving

the inner harbour taking

their cargo to other ports.

All adjust to

Nature's continuum.
