End of Plastic Recycling

By Joyanna Wilkinson

PLASTIC RECYCLING:
ALAS, Sat Sept. 13th will be our LAST drop off. We are no longer a viable site. Other areas are growing rapidly and have a larger population. We too grew rapidly over the 6 or more years we have been operating. Unfortunately, the geography of James Bay does not permit further growth for this project.

I am very grateful to all of you who have been loyal volunteers all these years and I applaud Pacific Mobile Depots for the work they are doing to help STOP our seemingly endless, flow of garbage to the dump. Now taking BATTERIES.

SOLUTIONS:
We in James Bay will still be able to drop off at the Fairfield site at the Red Cross between 12 and 2 pm or at the other Fairfield sites on the 3rd Saturday of each month. -Those of us who use transit could perhaps get together with neighbors and do a group drop off? or better still see the NO GARBAGE list.

NO GARBAGE:
Roger Smeeth, my recycling mentor, was asked by the Jubilee Community to make this list. His example was what prompted me, with the help of a startup grant from the Fairfield group and under the auspices of the James Bay Community Project, to start our James Bay initiative. He has given me permission to ask the Beacon to print it. Maybe this is a greater beginning? Let's go for it James Bay!!!
